The key to a solid relationship with God through prayer
How’s your prayer life?
A common thing I hear is that people’s prayer lives aren’t what they want them to be. People find prayer hard for various reasons…. busyness, not knowing what to pray, etc. So, what are the keys to a solid relationship with God through prayer?
The book of Psalms has been titled by many as “a book of prayers”. When looking into the Psalms we are looking into a number of relationships with God through prayer. The first Psalm sets the foundation of a fruitful believer who prays.
“Blessed is the man… [whose] delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.” (Psalm 1:2-3)
The power of God’s word
What the verses in Psalm 1 are saying is that to stay strong in the Christian life, we need to meditate on God’s word day and night.
When we read our Bibles, God speaks to us and we grow to understand more of his character, love and instruction.
Often when I read, God’s word prompts me to pray for things which come from what I have just read in my Bible. I may read that God is a refuge in times of trouble and be encouraged to thank our God that he protects us and cares for us when things are hard.
The key to a solid relationship
So, what’s the key to a solid relationship with God through prayer? Reading God’s word and meditating on it every day and every night. Go on, read your bible.
