According to Jamie Rohrbaugh,
Dear saints,
God is moving so powerfully right now, and He needs you to pray in order to do in your life what He wants to do.
I mean it. In this time, it’s THE time to pray and pray like you’ve never prayed before.
Why? Because divine advancement has never been closer. But, warfare over God’s blessings on your life has never been more real–and more aggressive.
I’m seeing this in my own life, as well as in the lives of my friends. I’m sure you’re seeing it too. For example:
Check out my video word of the week:
- The Lord just gave me a baby–a miracle baby. But from the instant he was born through now, we’ve had unreal warfare over getting him so he’s able to eat. Since food is necessary in order to keep him alive, that means the warfare has been over sustaining his life. Sustaining the life of an innocent 6-week-old baby. The enemy doesn’t play fair.
- I’ve been working on getting back in the routine of things, but have been struggling with a lot of pain because my c-section incision has not healed properly. I never got time to heal because we had to deal with our son’s issues. The enemy doesn’t play fair.
- I have a friend who is at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC (the US capital city) this week. She’s there to do the Lord’s work, but the enemy has harassed her and her team with seemingly-little things, like disappearing plane tickets and more. The enemy doesn’t play fair.
We’re in a war, folks.
It’s a big war. It’s a bad war. But Jesus has already won all of our warfare.
And in order to see His victory manifest on the earth in each of our situations–from the little situations to the big situations–we have to pray.
And we have to pray like never before.
Here are the prayer tips that are helping me right now:

1. Pray specific prayers.
If you want vague answers, pray vague prayers. If you want specific answers, pray specific prayers. And I don’t know about you, but I need specific answers to specific problems.
So if you need a specific bill paid by a specific date, hold it up to the Lord and pray for exactly what you need.
If you need help accomplishing a task, ask the Lord for the exact help you need.
If you need an event confirmed by this afternoon, tell the Lord what you need and ask Him to do it. I just did.
Here’s what happened today: I want to host an inner-healing and vision retreat for YOU, our precious readers, this fall.
(We want to do this instead of a conference this year.) I have been chasing the reservations lady at the retreat center I want us to use, but had not been able to reach her by phone or email. I wanted THIS specific retreat center because it’s beautiful, and it’s in the woods, and it has outdoor activities so we can have fun AND be spiritual at the same time.
And I wanted to reserve dates while I open registration to you.
Well, I prayed this morning and asked the Lord to reserve the dates I want TODAY. And then I spoke with the lady a couple of times, and the Lord helped. At first, it didn’t seem like she would do it; but then, she called me back and said she could.
So I have to go finalize things with the facility tomorrow before I finalize the reservation; and if everything works out tomorrow, then we have to open registration for YOU and have enough registrants to pay costs. But while that happens, I have the dates I want. She penciled me in today.
And you know what dates we got?
Lord willing, our inner-healing and vision retreat will be September 9-12: Rosh Hashanah, the start of Jewish year 5779. The year of freedom through the Holy Spirit.
I’ll let you know in the next few days if it works out. And if it does, I can’t wait.
The point is, I prayed a specific prayer because I could feel the warfare against it. Communications weren’t going through; information wasn’t available; return calls weren’t happening. So I had to get aggressive about it. And I prayed specifically that I would get my dates today; and then God broke through the warfare and things turned around that fast.
2. Next, write down what you want.
God said He’d provide all your needs. He said to ask for what you want. How often do we actually do that?
I am praying more aggressively these days because I am praying off a list. I never used to do that. I used to pray just whatever came to mind. But using a list keeps me focused, and seeing the thing written down builds my faith to run with God. Remember Habakkuk 2:
Then the Lord answered me and said:‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry’” (Habakkuk 2:2-3).
When you write down a list of what you want, and then pray over that list, it will take your prayer to a whole new level.
3. Write down at least one Scriptural promise to claim for everything you want. Every single thing should have its own Scripture.
If you’re going into battle, you need to be equipped to fight. The weapons of your warfare are not carnal, but they are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. And the weapons of your warfare in this case are prayer and THE WORD OF GOD.
The Word of God is what creates. The Word of God is what heals. The Word of God is what brings forth anything that is God’s will. As Bill Johnson says, “Nothing happens in the Kingdom unless first there is a declaration.” And that declaration has to be in agreement with God’s Word, the Bible.
So what do you need? For example:
- Need a new job? Find a Scripture about provision.
- Need a house? Same thing.
- Need a husband or wife? Find a Scripture about how God has ordained a spouse for each person. (Yes, there are more than one of those in the Bible!)
- Need inner healing from a traumatic event? Plenty of Scriptures about that.
Whatever you need, find Word to back up your prayer!
When you present God’s Word back to Him in prayer, you’re basically calling Him out on the carpet and forcing His hand. And He will respond every time. He actually WANTS you to pray that way. So, get to it!
4. Pray your list and Scriptures often, and pray aggressively.
Sometimes people ask me if it’s okay to pray for the same thing over and over. They wonder if they should just pray once and then thank God. My answer to that: Read Luke 18! Jesus taught that unrelenting, aggressive prayer is what God calls “faith.” THAT’S the kind of prayer that pleases Him.
Yes, sometimes you sense breakthrough when you pray, and you can just feel that your petition has been granted. Once you get to that point, yes, start thanking God. You’ll feel the difference in the spirit realm and you’ll just know that you don’t need to ask anymore. You’ll feel a joy, a peace, and a holy knowing that is a gift from Holy Spirit.
But until you get to that place? Pray, brother. Pray, sister. Pray, pray, pray, and pray some more:
- Pray for your finances DAILY. Multiple times a day.
- Pray for your spouse or future spouse daily. Multiple times a day.
- Pray for your dream daily. Over and over and over.
If you want the keys to divine advancement, know that there’s no such thing as too much prayer.
People in ages past used to wear out their knees with praying. They stained their carpet with their tears and snot from praying. But how does your carpet look? How does mine look? We need to ask ourselves these questions.
There is simply no such thing as too much prayer. Yes, at some point, we have to get off our knees and ACT. But even then, we must keep praying. That’s why the Word of God says to pray without ceasing.
Beloved, if you want to advance in any area of life, right now you must PRAY.
Please, beloved. Assault the throne of God with your prayers. Come boldly to the throne of grace, where you may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Never cease with your prayers. The warfare is stronger than ever … but Jesus has already defeated the enemy.
And to see that victory manifest on the earth, pray.
