Let’s Pray
Develop a Prayerful Lifestyle
To increase your faith in God, you must cultivate a prayerful lifestyle. The only way to enter God’s presence is through prayer. Prayer is a conversation with the Creator of the universe, and it is critical that you maintain this conversation in order to grow in your faith.
When you pray, ask God to deliver you from unbelief. Prayer is the last line of defense against temptation. Integrate prayer into all aspects of your life.
When you are afraid, remember God’s promises. When you feel guilty, ask God for forgiveness. When you’re happy, raise your voice in sweet adoration. When you’re feeling lost, pray for direction.
Practice Patience
You must be willing to learn the art of patience in order to increase your faith in God. Learn to wait on God.
At times, when life’s stresses become overwhelming, the desire for immediate divine intervention is strong, yet the answers do not come instantly. Instead, there is a resounding silence. Patience in such challenging circumstances can be a difficult task.
Learn to wait on God even when you’re under a lot of pressure to get immediate answers and solutions to your problems. Practice patience, recognizing that God’s promises and answers are not hurried or delayed. God answers our prayers at His discretion and in His own time.
Faith and patience are inextricably linked. Faith encourages us to place our hope in God, while patience urges us to persevere in the face of adversity.
Immerse yourself in God’s Word
Immerse yourself in God’s word study to strengthen your faith.
The Bible serves as God’s medium for conveying His knowledge. The scriptures are the active ingredient in strengthening your faith in God. Your faith will grow as you study, internalize, absorb, memorize, meditate, and apply biblical principles in your daily life.
When you earnestly seek God for insight into His word through prayer, He will unveil “wondrous things” to you. Delving into God’s word will deepen your understanding and appreciation of His love and goodness towards you.
Receive the Word of God
To build your faith in God, you need to receive the word of God.
Studying the word of God is accumulating divine knowledge, but there is more to it.
What does it mean to receive God’s word? Receiving the word of God means heeding and applying the promises and principles of the word of God in your daily life. It means living out the truths you discover as you study the Bible. In other words, as James put it, you are not only a “hearer” but also a “doer of the word.”
Share the Word of God
To nurture and strengthen your faith in God, you need to share the glad tidings of salvation with your family, neighbors, and friends.
In the ancient Near Eastern countries, a messenger (of either bad news or good news) would endure so many things. A messenger could encounter wild animals, robbers, and sometimes hostile enemy troops.
These risks would not deter a faithful messenger as he traversed valleys, hills, and plains bearing the news. The news could be of a victory on a battlefield or peace accords between warring nations and tribes.
The above verse (Isaiah 52:7) primarily celebrates one such messenger—a messenger who bears good news and gives hope to the people of God.
The apostle Paul in the New Testament (Romans 10:14,15) applies this scripture in a secondary sense to the witnesses and bearers of the good news of salvation. They, too (the New Testament messengers), risked everything to testify of the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ to the near lands and outposts.
Join a Christian Fellowship
To grow strong in your Christian faith, you need to fellowship with other Christians. You need the support system of the community of faith.
In the New Testament, after sharing the gospel and winning new believers to the faith, the apostles would encourage them to join their fellowship.
Forgive: Let Go Grudges and Bitterness
To strengthen your faith, you need to learn the art and science of forgiveness. Forgiveness brings healing to your heart and releases you from people who hurt you.
Harboring grudges and bitterness adversely affects your health and wears off your bones. Solomon records that: Not only do grudges and bitterness affect your bones, but they also affect your mind, mood, and spirits. Bible wisdom states that:
Sing and Listen to Gospel Music
Music is a powerful instrument for helping you grow spiritually.
The hymn writers and other Christian songwriters composed and wrote their songs out of an overflow of their individual religious experiences.
Christian music is a potent portion of driving home the truth of the word of God. Sacred music encourages you to go deeper in faith. Christ-centric music uplifts and connects your soul to God. James encourages you to sing when in trouble:
Show Generosity and Kindness to the Less Fortunate in Society
To strengthen your faith in God, you need to help the needy.
Exercising a spirit of benevolence empties you of selfishness and enables you to build a Christ-like character.
A generous spirit brings fulfillment to your life as well as spiritual progress. By giving liberally to the poor, you recognize God as the owner of everything. The Bible gives this promise:
God remembers and records everything you do for the less fortunate members of society.
Volunteer in Community Service Initiatives
To grow your faith, volunteer in your local community welfare drives. Volunteer at some rehabilitation centers, orphanages, elderly homes, and even the Red Cross. John, the apostle, advised the new believers to love in deed and truth:
Participate in free food distribution to the needy and environmental cleaning efforts. Remember, the Bible encourages you to use your God-given resources to serve the poor and less privileged members of your society. The apostle Peter states:’
In Jesus’ Name. Amen!.
May the Lord Jesus Christ keep me safe until the day of his second coming when he will transport all saints to his heavenly home? May he count me worthy to receive his imperishable crown of glory, and may he decorate my life with beauty and honor forever! For in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
