Powerful Prayer For Breaking Generational Curses By Marilyn Hickey
While searching YouTube last week looking for a fresh word, I came across this message by Marilyn Hickey and wanted to share it with you. It’s about three years old but the word of God has no time limits. His word is fresh and will always transcend time.
What Is A Generational Curse?
This message was timely for me personally because I’ve been praying for just this thing as it pertains to me and my family; my nation. Many of us have heard of generational curses, their in the bible; but many Believers do not understand what the bible says about generational curses and how Jesus redeemed us from them.
The Bible mentions “generational curses” several times in the Old Testament (Exodus 20:5; 34:7; Numbers 14:18; and Deuteronomy 5:9). God warns that He’s “a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.”
God’s warning to visit iniquity on future generations, as He did with the Israelites, is part of the Old Testament Law. This generational curse was a consequence for idolatry (the worship of a physical object as a god or attachment or devotion to something).
Could we as Christians be under a generational curse today? So many of us see the same challenges and issues going from generation to generation and wonder why?
The Cure?
The cure for a generational curse has always been repentance. Once Israel turned from idols to serve the God, the “curse” was broken and He saved them. In Exodus, God also promised that He would show “love to a thousand of those who love me and who keep my commandments”. The point being that God’s grace last much much longer than His wrath.
Do you believe you and/or your family are dealing with a generational curse? Well, the Word is clear and salvation is the answer and repentance is the only way to access it. Those chains were broken off of us through the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Our sins (past, present and future) were placed in his body and nailed to the cross. As a child of the “Living God” old things have passed away.
