Let’s Pray
If you really want God’s blessing on your life, you must depend on God’s wisdom and not your feelings. The Bible says it like this, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5 NIV).
So, how do you get God’s wisdom?
You pray. You talk to God, and you let him talk to you by reading the Bible. That’s how you get God’s wisdom.
The Bible says in James 1:5 (NIV), “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
God doesn’t want you to hit dead-ends or go through failure after failure in your life. God wants you to succeed. He wants you to make wise decisions with your time and your money and your relationships.
And God’s ready to help you live a life of wisdom and blessing if you’ll ask him humbly in prayer.
Let me help you get on that pathway to blessing by sharing some key advice from the life of Nehemiah.
Here are four secrets to praying effectively for God’s wisdom and blessing:
Base your request on God’s character. Pray like you know God will answer you: “Lord, I’m expecting you to answer this prayer because of who you are. You are a faithful God. You are a great God. You can handle this problem, God!”
Confess the sins of which you’re aware. Even though he wasn’t at fault, Nehemiah confessed his part in Israel’s sin that led to their captivity. He wasn’t even born when it happened; he was most likely born in captivity. Yet he’s including himself in the national sins. He says, “I’ve been a part of the problem.”
Claim the promises of God. Does God have to be reminded? No. Does he forget what he’s promised? No. Then why do we do this? Because it helps us remember what God has promised.
Be very specific in what you ask for. If you want specific answers to prayer, then make specific requests. If your prayers consist of general requests, how will you know if they’re answered?
In Jesus Name Amen!!!
Keep praying and asking God for wisdom. He will be faithful as you “trust in the Lord with all your heart”!
